Prescription Troubles
This week we had trouble getting a prescription filled. The clinic sent it electronically to the pharmacy on Tuesday morning. On Tuesday evening, the pharmacy said they did not have it.
Wednesday, I called the pharmacy again and verified they did not have it. I called the clinic and they said they sent it and it was acknowledged. After several calls and callbacks, we still did not get it.
Thursday, we got a similar runaround and were informed that in addition to the pain medicine there was an antibiotic that we did need. The clinic would resend the prescription.
Friday, we still don’t have anything so I got in the car and drove to the clinic. I told them that I was ready to just get a paper script and take it to the pharmacy. They said they could not do that for the narcotic and I told them we didn’t need the pain med, just the antibiotic. They called the pharmacy and told me the scripts were ready and had been for days. I should talk to Alissa. I went to the pharmacy. They still didn’t have anything. After speaking to Alissa, it turns out, the script was for someone else. Helen Walker borne in 1942 who died a couple of years ago. I could not get her meds. The pharmacy apologized and I told them it was not their fault. I went back to the clinic and corrected the birth date on Kay’s chart and got a paper script for the antibiotic. I went back to the pharmacy and got the script filled.
I will be expecting an apology from the clinic and explanation of how this will be prevented in the future.
